The Feis - Traditional Music, Song and Dance

What is the Feis?

Feis

The Feis is a monthly gathering of all ages and abilities to learn how to play traditional musical instruments such as fiddle, chanter, tin whistle, bodhran, keyboard or guitar or learn to step-dance or sing Gaelic songs(no need to have any knowledge of the language). The tutors are of the very highest standard and will cater for absolute beginners right through to more advanced players. Each evening finishes off with a wee concert and ceilidh dance led by the tutors themselves. Great fun guaranteed.

Where, When and How Much?

The local Feis meets on the third Friday evening of each month from October through to March and meets in the Farr Community Hall.

The charge for the whole winter programme is only £15 for an individual or £30 for a family.

On 19th April 2002 the Feis gathered in Dingwall Town Hall along with other feisean for a concert where representatives of our Feis were able to demonstrate their new-found talents in front of an audience of between 200 and 300 people. Our musicians performed well and the event was a tremendous success. We look forward to a similar event next year.
