Annual Farr Gala

When is the next Farr Gala?

farr gala

The next Farr Gala day will be held on a Saturday in August 2008 (date to be confirmed). The event starts around 12.00PM and usually concludes around 5.00PM.

Where is the Gala held?

The Gala is held in the new Farr Community Hall at Inverarnie (two and a half miles off the A9 at Daviot on the road to Fort Augustus) and on the surrounding sports fields.

What Happens?

The Farr Gala is an excellent day out for all ages with plenty to see and do. Inside the hall we have a wide variety of craft, society and refreshment stalls. If you wish to buy a shepherds crook, some locally made crystal, a woolly jumper, home-made tablet, a beefburger - or join one of the local organisations - then this is your opportunity. Outside, on the adjacent playing fields, you can enjoy a pony ride, throw a missile at a coconut, join a tug-o-war team, test your sprinting skills or guess the weight of a Strathnairn sheep etc., etc. There will also be a number of stands representing various organisations (in the past these have included the Army and the Fire Brigade - including the opportunity to climb aboard a fire engine!).

Whether you live in the area or not, the Farr Gala is sure to be an enjoyable day out in our beautiful Strath.

Looking forward to seeing you there at the next Gala.
